The history of the industrial site in Pinnow began 60 years ago. Before World War II the German military had already built an ammunition factory in the middle of a large woods. After the war a new factory was built, where rockets and radar systems of Russian production were repaired for the use in the East German armed forces.
From 1984 - 1986 a new factory has been built to produce anti-tank rockets under Russian licence. Now the ammunition disposal is on this premises.

Since 1991 more than DM 65 million have been invested to improve infrastructure and equipment for ammunition disposal. Pinnow is one of the most important industrial locations in the north-east of Germany, which actually is a region of agriculture.

About 15km away you will find Schwedt - a town with 45.000 inhabitants very close to the Polish border. Schwedt is a centre of oil processing and paper industry.
